Sham-rocking Through Spring

Hey baby Jags!

Spring has finally sprung down in Mobile, AL and the weather is absolutely beautiful. Honestly, I feel like we only had 5 days of winter, but I am not complaining AT ALL. The warm weather makes walking across campus at 8 AM for physics slightly more bearable.

As a campus, we have numerous activities throughout the Spring that makes second semester even more fun that the first. Jag Productions puts on great events (Jeremih concert, YEET!), baseball and softball seasons begin, and intramural basketball and water polo are in full swing.

Personally, my favorite event during the Spring would be my sororities philanthropy event, Bubble Soccer. We gather around 60 teams and head to the intramural fields for a day long tournament with music, face painting, and good food. All of the other sororities and fraternities participate as well as the majority of the clubs on campus. We even have people from other universities come spend the day with us.

There is definitely something for everyone during the Spring semester at South. If you aren't a sports person, we have dance marathon. If you just want to chill, the pool at the rec is always the perfect spot to spend a lazy afternoon!

I can't wait for all of you to get on campus and find your niche!

Love & light xx

Welcome to Lala Land :)

Hey there Baby Jags! It's another school year and another opportunity to get to know all of you lovely people. My name is Laura and I am originally from Troy, AL. Most of my friends and family call me Lala or Dobby, but some of the Jag Guides call me Tic Tac (long story, funny story). I lived in the same home there my entire life before moving to Mobile for college. Coming from a small town took some getting used to, but I absolutely love the city and how much it continues to grow daily.  I am a Junior at South Alabama majoring in Professional Health Sciences with a concentration in Health Management. I'm Pre-Physical Therapy and hoping to attend the doctoral program at South after achieving my Bachelor's Degree. Eventually I want to work at Children's Hospital in the Physical Therapy department. I'm a member of a Phi Eta Sigma and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I am also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority which gives me so many opportun...

"Ain't Nobody Got Time For That"

Hey baby Jags! We have officially passed the midterm mark of the semester and things are getting REAL. I have honestly enjoyed this semester so much and done well in the classroom, but there are inevitable challenges we all will face as college students. The main challenge I have faced throughout my almost 3 years at South would be managing my time. I currently am taking 17 hours, working part time on campus, juggling a few different clubs and honors societies, and finding time for philanthropic work and sisterhood events with my sorority, Kappa Delta. It can be extremely difficult to find time for everything thrown at you and you definitely will go through periods of time where you feel as if you spread yourself too thin.  I have learned that making a list each morning when I wake up is extremely beneficial for me. On Sunday afternoons, I will write out all that I have to do for the week. Each day when I wake up, I will pick 2 or 3 assignments or extracurricular things t...

3 Tips

Hey baby Jags!  Picking the college you want to attend can be extremely stressful. It can get overwhelming to muddle through a list of schools and deciding where you want to spend the next 4+ years of your life can be very scary. Everyone approaches the college-picking process differently, but I will give you three tips that I used to help decide on a university. 1) Money. For me, I looked into scholarship requirements and figured out how much assistance I could get from each university I was interested in. Finances are a huge factor for most people when deciding on a college. I found that South was the most affordable and I was able to earn the largest amount of scholarship money here as well. 2) Location. I come from a college town so all of my friends stayed in our hometown for school. I wanted to get away but also be close enough to home to be able to get to my parents if I ever needed them. South is about 3 hours from my hometown of Troy and about 45 minutes from the...
